Beautiful craftsmanship

Finally! My favorite paper in sketchbook format.

I bought the HP paper variant.

The cover feels very premium and I love that it has the snap buttons instead of an elastic band.

Some of the pages do have the watermark but that doesn't really affect my work/bother me.

The signatures are sewn very well together and the thread of a very high quality.

Will definitely be buying the CP version!

This sketchbook really highlights the paper. Well crafted all around, I’ve been looking for the perfect watercolor sketchbook and feel like I found it! I can’t wait to try some other Koval sketchbooks!

The quality of this book is unmatched. Have used multiple journals but this is my favorite.

Flat binding, fine paper... perfect

The paper quality is exceptional. I use for watercolor, gouache, and ink work and colored pencils. The cold-pressed texture provides a balanced surface textured enough to hold washes beautifully, yet smooth enough to accommodate detailed line work, as in my case. The binding is solid and lays flat, allowing for comfortable use across the spread, something often overlooked but fieldwork and journaling. I have both colors, but I prefer the prussian blue cover.

After a long time looking for the perfect sketchbook, I can confidently say: this is the one. The paper is top-tier, a true benchmark in the market. The craftsmanship is outstanding, from the impeccable binding to the smallest details, including how carefully it’s packaged and shipped. I chose the HP version, and it’s a dream to work on with both fountain pen and watercolor. The surface handles ink beautifully and still takes light washes without buckling. It’s not cheap, but honestly, it’s worth every cent. If you value quality, you won’t find a better sketchbook.
